How to Turn CC Cylinder Into an Infinite Text Tunnel
Most motion designers use CC Cylinder to wrap text labels around bottles and products. This tutorial flips that convention entirely. By rotating the cylinder's X-axis to exactly 90°, we point its opening directly at the camera, instantly converting a cylindrical wrap into a converging text tunnel that appears to stretch infinitely into the screen.
It is a completely non-obvious use of the plugin, and it costs zero extra render time. The tunnel is 100% procedural — no 3D scene, no camera, no expressions.
The Three-Composition Pipeline
This project uses a deliberate three-stage nesting structure to keep each function modular and easily editable.
COMP 1
Text Tile
Typography, dual colour strips (purple & orange), and Drop Shadow. Cropped tight.
COMP 2
The Tunnel
5000px tall. Motion Tile is applied to Comp 1, creating an enormous scrolling stack.
COMP 3
Main Output
CC Cylinder (90° X), product scale reveal, and background opacity fades.
Why Radius 125 Matters
Setting the cylinder radius to 125 creates the sweet spot where the text tiles feel like they are receding into the distance without collapsing into the centre too quickly. A lower value makes the tunnel claustrophobic; a higher value makes it look flat.
Adding Rotation for Energy
After the tunnel is established, we add a Z-axis rotation keyframe — one full revolution. This subtle spin transforms the tunnel from a scrolling conveyor belt into a dynamic, swirling vortex.
Step-by-Step Build Order

Build the Text Comp
Add your text (like Bokis font), place a coloured rectangle strip behind it, and apply a Drop Shadow. Duplicate, recolour, and crop tightly with Region of Interest.

Create the Scrolling Wall
Set a new comp's height to 5000px. Drop in the text comp, apply Motion Tile, and expand the Output Height to fill. Keyframe the Y-value of Tile Center to scroll the text upward.

Curve into a Cylinder
Drop the tunnel comp into your Main Comp, apply CC Cylinder, set radius to 125, and X rotation to 90°. Add your packaging PNG, keyframe scale from 50% to 69%, and animate tunnel opacity from 3% to 60%.
The Reusable System
Change the product in 60 seconds! Because the entire tunnel is driven by a nested composition structure, swapping in a completely different product — say, a tortilla brand or a snack pouch — requires editing only three things: the text in Comp 1, the strip colour in Comp 1, and the packaging PNG in the Main Comp.
